Victor Civita Awards goes to a m-learning pedagogical project

Victor Civita Foundation and Escola Maganize conceives an award to teachers in Brazil who has been developing innovative pedagogical projects. The last award went to Rogerio Andrade Bettoni. In his project, Rogerio´s developed a new way to teach concepts of arts in high schools.
In Brazil, 36% of students at least 10 years old has cell phones. In metropolitan areas this number may be much bigger. Rogerio´s observed his students are so familiar with features like downloading songs, taking picutes, and sending SMS. However, he has also taken note students knows few about language and techniques to produce these sounds, videos, photos and texts. Looking this lack, Rogerio ´s gotten the opportunity for a better learning to students. He used students´ interest in mobile devices to motivate their to learn concepts and history of cinema and photography.
About the theory content, he´s puted learners in touch with basic concepts of optics, evolution of cinema and photography, and semiotics. In practical activities, students´ taken pictures with mobile phones to express themself. In addition, they´ve done an experiment to understand how stop motion technique works: pictures taken from cell phone were used to make short movies.
