Victor Civita Foundation and Escola Maganize conceives an award to teachers in Brazil who has been developing innovative pedagogical projects. The last award went to Rogerio Andrade Bettoni. In his project, Rogerio´s developed a new way to teach concepts of arts in high schools. In Brazil, 36% of students at least 10 years old has cell phones. In metropolitan areas this number may be much bigger. Rogerio´s observed his students are so familiar with features like downloading songs, taking picutes, and sending SMS. However, he has also taken note students knows few about language and techniques to produce these sounds, videos, photos and texts. Looking this lack, Rogerio ´s gotten the opportunity for a better learning to students. He used students´ interest in mobile devices to motivate their to learn concepts and history of cinema and photography.
About the theory content, he´s puted learners in touch with basic concepts of optics, evolution of cinema and photography, and semiotics. In practical activities, students´ taken pictures with mobile phones to express themself. In addition, they´ve done an experiment to understand how stop motion technique works: pictures taken from cell phone were used to make short movies.

This week we were discussing the definition of interaction in a HCI (Human Computer Interaction) class. Alex Sandro Gomes, PhD Université de Paris V, initiated the class breaking some paradigms. He showed us the reasons why students with not much Social Science background, technicians, are far away from being aware of interaction as something more complex than a GUI (Graphic User Interface). To design a product or a service to users, we must start by observing and understanding the current problem and the context of this task or action. But this appears to be difficult to students who usually define the user behavior with determistic steps. For these professionals, the cognitive process and its relationship with the action are not used to support the solution design, and the result is a poor designed interaction.
